On April 21, Eastern Daylight Time, U.S. trade officials have finally determined to impose high tariffs on solar cells and modules from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, with the highest tariff rate reaching as high as 3403.96%! This move supports U.S. solar manufacturers, who claim that foreign competitors are flooding the market with unfairly low-priced and subsidized products. While this action brings a victory for domestic manufacturers in the United States, it also exacerbates the unfavorable factors that already pose a threat to the development of the country's renewable energy sources.

According to Reuters, on the morning of April 22, U.S. trade officials finally finalized the imposition of high tariffs on most solar cells from Southeast Asia on Monday, marking the final stage of a year-long trade investigation.
For the tariffs to finally come into effect, the U.S. International Trade Commission must vote in June to determine whether the industry has been materially injured by the dumping and subsidized imports.
